Vom 14. bis 22. April stellen wir Shona Steinhauerkunst im Art Space «Parat» an der Limmatstrasse 204, 8005 Zürich aus. Der Gewinn geht an die beiden Nooks in Bulawayo und Matibi. Organisiert wird die Vernissage von SwiZimTrust und FFM. Es gibt verschiedene Programmpunkte und am Samstag, 22.4., ab 19 Uhr, endet die Ausstellung mit einem Konzert der grossartigen Band mettiwetti.ch
Der Künstler heisst Victor Mutongwizo. Seine Steinskulpturen sind im Nationalmuseum in Harare und auf einer zimbabweschen Briefmarke zu finden. Komm vorbei, kauf dir ein Stück Shona-Kunst aus Stein für die Ewigkeit und unterstütze unsere Projekte!
About the artist
Born and educated to junior certificate level in Zimbabwe. Victor Mutongwizo is a self-taught artist with a unique style.
He has qualified to enter the Annual Zimbabwe Heritage Exhibition every year since 1987 and his works have frequently received the accolade of highly commended: Profile, Flying Dream, Sight, My Reflection; to name but a few. In 1990 he placed third in a competition held by the Zimbabwe Development Bank and a prize was presented to him by His Excellence the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
A soft spoken man, it is perhaps fitting that a sculpture of his entitled «Silence is golden» is a permanent collection of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. Mike Tyson, the late Miles Davis and actor Danny Glover also own pieces entitled «The Boxer», «Musician» and «Spiritual Flower», respectively from Victor Mutongvizo.
Some of his sculptures are owned by galleries in the USA, France, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, South Africa, Britain, Guatemala, Singapore and world over.
Influenced by nature, literature and a broad imagination, Victor comes with unique sculptures. Besides art , Victor enjoys reading and martial arts and music.
